Board Members Present: Mike Fischer, Don Beck, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, Lynn Schnoor, William French
Board Members Absent:
Others Present: Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer
Supt. Ginger Meyer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, January 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. A call of roll showed all members present and 4 quests.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Open Meetings Act:
The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Oath of Office was recited by the re-elected members of District #62 Board of Education.
Election of Officers:
Laura Schnoor made a motion to keep the current elected positions of 2016 for the 2017 year. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Approval of the Consent Agenda:
Laura Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the December 12, 2016 Minutes, with a revision of 2016 to 2017 on the minutes as it reflects the wrong year, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses and placed them on file. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Principal Stithem reported on the following items:
- Discussed Dibels
- Congratulations to the December Students and Staff of the month.
- Drop and add schedules are set.
Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:
- Received an outline of the 2017 insurance coverage and premiums.
- Discussed the Joint Public Agency P2T Career Program.
Discussion was held regarding the Board of Education committee assignments for 2017.
Discussion regarding any buildings and grounds matters.
Lynn Schnoor made a motion to approve and extend Superintendent Ginger Meyer’s contract for 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 school years. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Nemecek motioned to approve administration negotiations as presented by board subcommittee, Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to wave the 2nd reading of policy 204.1 (attachment 4) and approve the revision of the meeting beginning and ending time. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
- The updated policy will reflect starting times of 6:30 p.m. – December thru March and 7:30 p.m. – April thru November effective February 13, 2017.
Discussion was held regarding the Joint Public Agency for P2T
Discussion was held regarding implementing a life skills program for 2017-18 school year.
Nemecek moved the members go to executive session at 8:42 p.m. to discuss personnel. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes. President Fischer stated that a motion was made by Nemecek that the Board of Education go into closed session for the purpose of discussing personnel when necessary to prevent needless injury to the reputation of a person and if such person has not requested a public meeting; and for the protection of the public interest.
French moved the members come from executive session at 9:13 p.m., Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
There being no further business, Beck moved for adjournment at 9:14 p.m., Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, February 13, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center. Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
