Board Members Present: Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, Lynn Schnoor, William French
Board Members Absent: Don Beck
Others Present: Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer
President Mike Fischer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, February 13, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. A call of roll showed 4 members present, 1 absent (Don Beck) and 2 guests.
Nemecek moved to excuse Don Beck’s absence for attending a family funeral. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5 yes.
Open Meetings Act:
The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Approval of the Consent Agenda:
Lynn Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the January 9, 2017 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses and placed them on file. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Principal Stithem reported on the following items:
- Parent Teacher Conference will be held on Thursday, February 16th from 3:30 – 7:30 p.m.
- Second round of Maps Testing has been completed.
- Pre-K/Kindergarten Round-Up will take place on Tuesday, February 28th from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
- Mrs. Bell, Mrs. Roth and Mrs. Toman went over the most recent testing results for the I-Ready Program.
Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:
- AdvancED Team Dinner with Leadership Team at Z’s Bar and Grill on February 19 at 5:30 p.m.
Discussion was held regarding building and grounds matters.
Discussion was held regarding implementing a life skills program for 2017-18.
Discussed the action to update the administrative regulation in regards to tattoos in activities. French made the motion to allow administration to revise the tattoo/activity policy for student tattoos in competition pending approval by administration beginning immediately. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve membership in the Nebraska School Boards Association for the 2017-2018 school year. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve participation in the Title I Cooperative through the ESU2 for the 2017-2018 school year. French seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Nemecek made a motion to approve the 2017-2018 school calendar (attachment 4) as presented, Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Nemecek made a motion to approve Superintendent Meyer as the signing agent for ERate for the 2017-2018 school year, Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
Laura Schnoor approved Supt. Meyer as the signing agent for District, State and Federal Programs, Nemecek seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
There being no further business, Laura Schnoor moved for adjournment at 8:16 p.m., Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 5-yes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, March 13, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center. Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
