Board Members Present: Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, Lynn Schnoor, William French, Don Beck
Board Members Absent:
Others Present: Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer
President Mike Fischer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, April 10, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. A call of roll showed all members present, and 34 guests.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Open Meetings Act:
The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Approval of the Consent Agenda:
Lynn Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the March 13, 2017 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses, Policy 706.07 - Business Suspension and Debarment (attachment 4), Policy 607.09 - Service Animals and Therapy Dogs (attachment 5), Policy 802.03-Money Collections (attachment 6), Policy 905.03 – Safety Operations (attachment 7) and placed them on file. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Schnoor, Boyle, Beerbohm, Lodl, Schulenberg and Kruse all approached the board with their concerns with cooping all High School sports.
Principal Stithem reported on the following items:
Tornado Drill was held on March 29, 2017.
DIBELS Texting/NeSA Testing/ACT will all take place within the next several weeks.
National Honor Society Tapping Ceremony is set for Wednesday, April 12th at 3:00 p.m.
Class registration will begin the week of April 19-21. Rough draft of the 2017-18 master schedule is completed.
Proud to announce that we had 12 students participating in the State Journalism competition. State qualifiers include: L. Peters, M. Furchert, J. Dominguez, B. Noel, A. Peters, M. Smutz, V. Zamora, S. Hodges, J. Baker, N. Peursum and M. Schreck. Congrats to all the students and Mr. Stevens for a job well done. Good luck at State!
Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:
Board Retreat will be held on April 20, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Band Room.
Discussion was held regarding National FCCLA. Madison Brainard and Sydney Wolfgram approached the Board regarding financial support from the Board to attend Nationals in Tennessee. Laura made a motion to assist the girls $500.00 each to attend Nationals in Tennessee. French seconded and the motion carried 6-yes. Congratulations Girls!
Discussion was held regarding the Resolution for Nebraskans United for Property Tax Reform and Education. After some discussion it was decided to table until the May meeting.
Discussion was held regarding sport Coop matters. Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve the Boys and Girls Basketball Coop with Logan View for the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-20 school years. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Laura moved to accept the Volleyball agreement (attachment 8) with Logan View with the exclusion of the coaching section. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 4-yes, 2-no (Fischer/Beck).
French made a motion for Scribner-Snyder Jr. High Football to participate with Logan View Jr. High Football for the 2017-18 and 2018-19 school years. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Discussion was held regarding Building and Grounds matters. Laura Schnoor moved to accept the bid of $9,900 from Glass House to install boys/girls locker room windows. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Discussed the Fiber Move Quote from Great Plains. Will table until May meeting.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to go into closed session at 9:35 p.m. to discuss confidential attorney communications. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
French moved the members come from executive session at 9:51 p.m., Nemecek seconded and motion carries 6-yes.
There being no further business, Laura Schnoor moved for adjournment at 9:52 p.m., Beck seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, May 8, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center. Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
