Board Members Present: Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, Lynn Schnoor, William French, Don Beck
Board Members Absent:
Others Present: Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer
President Mike Fischer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, September 11, 2017, at 7:30 p.m. A call of roll showed all members present. 4 guests
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Open Meetings Act:
The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Approval of the Consent Agenda:
Laura Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the August 17, 2017 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses, and placed them on file. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Principal Stithem reported on the following items:
- 1st round of DIBELS Next testing is completed. RTI process was reviewed and also reviewed trends of Maps testing.
- Maps testing is scheduled for September 11-29, 2017.
- Parent-Teacher Conferences have been scheduled for Wednesday, October 5th.
- Elementary teachers are in the process of implementing the new reading series called Wonders to start the school year.
- Cecilia Neiman consultant from ESU2 will be assisting Mr. Stithem with data retreats and instructional coaching for the Jr. High and High School staff.
- Homecoming ceremony and dance will take place on Friday, September 15th.
Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:
- Enrollment for 2017-2018 is at 215 kids Pre-K – 12th grade.
- This will be the last year for the gym floor advertising contracts.
Lynn Schnoor made a motion to approve the 2017-2018 budget for the General Fund, Depreciation Fund, Activity Fund, Lunch Fund, Special Building Fund, Student Fee Fund and Employee Benefits as presented and will republish in local paper (attachment 4). Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve the 2017-2018 Tax Request as presented and will republish in local paper (attachment 5). Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Discussion was held regarding building and grounds matters. Nemecek approved to authorize the Superintendent to sign a letter of intent with the Trane Company as the District intends to enter into a Guaranteed Energy Savings Contract with an ESCO to implement energy and operational savings projects should the company meet the final buying criteria of the district within the set financial parameters. French seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Discussion was held regarding Coop matters. Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve the proposals for expansion of the sports Coop with Logan View as presented (attachment 5). French seconded and motion carried 5-yes 1-no (Fischer).
Discussion was held regarding youth sports in gym on Wednesdays after 6:00 p.m. Nemecek made a motion to ratify the handbooks to allow non-school groups to use our facilities on Wednesdays after 6:00 p.m. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
There being no further business, Laura Schnoor moved for adjournment at 8:38 p.m., Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, October 9, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center. Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
