REGULAR MEETING

                                                             BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

MONDAY, JANUARY 8, 2018

6:30 P.M.

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

Board Members Present:  Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, William French, Don Beck, Lynn Schnoor

 

Board Members Absent:  

 

Others Present:  Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer

 

Superintendent Ginger Meyer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, January 8, 2018, at 6:30 p.m.  A call of roll showed all present. 1 guest was present.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Open Meetings Act:

The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

 

Election of Officers:

Superintendent Meyer called for nominations for president, Lynn Schnoor nominated Mike Fischer for president, Laura Schnoor moved that nominations cease.  Beck seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-abstain (Fischer).

 

President Fischer called for nominations for vice president, Lynn Schnoor nominated Laura Schnoor for vice president, Fischer moved that nominations cease.  French seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-abstain (Laura Schnoor).

 

President Fischer called for nominations for secretary, Laura Schnoor nominated Lynn Schnoor for secretary, Beck moved that nominations cease.  Nemecek seconded and motion carried 5-yes, 1-abstain (Lynn Schnoor).

  

Approval of the Consent Agenda:

Laura Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the December 11, 2017 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses, and placed them on file.  Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Visitor Comments: 

 

Administrative Reports:

Principal Stithem reported on the following items:

  • Teachers reported back to work on January 5th for teacher in-service.
  • Congratulations to the January Staff/Students of the month.
  • Welcome back to the start of the second semester of the 2017-2018 school year.

 

Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:

  • New student enrollment shows an increase of 6 students.
  • New Board of Education Information Sheet given to members.

 

New Business:

Discussions was held regarding the Board of Education committee assignments for 2018.

 

Discussion regarding building and grounds matters.

 

Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve Superintendent Ginger Meyer’s contract for 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years.  French seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Laura Schnoor made a motion to approve the membership in the Nebraska School Boards Association.  Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

French made a motion to approve participation in the Title 1 Cooperative through ESU2.  Beck seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Beck motioned to approve administration negotiations as presented by board subcommittee for the 2018-2019 school year, Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Nemecek made a motion to wave the 2nd reading of VSP policy 408.06 (attachment 4).  Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

Adjournment:

There being no further business, Laura Schnoor moved for adjournment at 7:12 p.m., Beck seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, February 12, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center.  Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
