Board Members Present: Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, William French, Don Beck, Lynn Schnoor
Board Members Absent:
Others Present: Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer
President Mike Fischer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, May 14th, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. A call of roll showed all present. 5 guest present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Open Meetings Act:
The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Approval of the Consent Agenda:
Lynn Schnoor moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the April 9, 2018 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses, and placed them on file. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Principal Stithem reported on the following items:
- Class registration is completed.
- Elementary Data Retreat meeting - May 16th
- Summer School Program
- New math series for Elementary and Jr. High-High School
- Last Day of School - May 18th
Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:
- Youth Club
- Plan Goal setting
- Handed out timeline for Trane
Madison Brainard approached the Board asking for financial support to attend Nationals in Atlanta, Georgia. Laura Schnoor made a motion to contribute $500.00 to Madison Brainard for FCCLA Nationals. Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes. Congratulations Madison!!
Congratulations to Mr. Stevens and the SSCS State Journalism qualifiers, also to Christian Dames and Madison Smutz for placing at State.
Lynn Schnoor made a motion to approve Daktronics bid as presented for 2 scoreboards for in the gym, Beck seconded and the motion carried 6-yes.
Discussion was held regarding the repairing of the gym floor. Mike Fischer will repair the floor dead spot in the gym sometime in June.
Laura Schnoor made a motion to accept the bid from Skywave as presented for Dell laptops to include purchase for 3380’s to update laptop cart. Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Beck made a motion to approve the bid from Skywave as presented for Dell laptops to include purchase for 5490’s for incoming freshman. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Lynn Schnoor made a motion to approve the bid as presented for 7-12 math book adoption. Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Laura Schnoor motioned to approve Tim Wobken as SSCS Treasurer for the 2018-2019 school year, Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
Beck motioned to approve the District Treasurer to borrow funds on the Districts behalf when or if needed, Laura Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
There being no further business, Laura Schnoor moved for adjournment at 8:55 p.m., Lynn Schnoor seconded and motion carried 6-yes.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, June 11, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., at the Scribner–Snyder Attendance Center. Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
