REGULAR MEETING

                                                               BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

MONDAY, May 13, 2019

7:30 P.M.

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

Board Members Present:  Mike Fischer, Laura Schnoor, Malia Nemecek, Don Beck, Cory Schlueter, Andrea Vacha

 

Board Members Absent:  

 

Others Present:  Supt. Ginger Meyer, Principal Brad Stithem, Recording Secretary Sharon Meyer

 

President Mike Fischer called the regular meeting of School Board #62 to order on Monday, May 13, 2019 at 7:31 p.m.  A call of roll showed all members present.   guests present.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Open Meetings Act:

The board meeting will be conducted in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.

  

Approval of the Consent Agenda:

Vacha moved to accept the consent Agenda which includes the approval of the agenda, the April 8, 2019 Minutes, Treasurers (attachment 1) and Financial (attachment 2) reports and the actual General Fund (attachment 3), expenses, and placed them on file.  Beck seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Visitor Comments: 

Stewarts thanked the Board for the support of the golf program.  Congratulations to Teague Stewart for qualifying for State Golf.

Kelsey Piper informed the Board of the Nursing Program she and her students are involved in.

Becky Hull discussed A/P classes for IEP students.

 

New Business:

 

Administrative Reports:

Principal Stithem reported on the following items:

  • Class registration has been completed.
  • Dual Credit from NE College of Technical AG is being added to the Master Schedule.
  • Data Retreat meeting will be held on May 16th.
  • Summer School
  • Students’ last day of school is May 17th.  Thank you to all the teachers and staff members for their hard work and dedication they showed during the 2018-19 school year.

 

Superintendent Meyer reported on the following items:

  • Information was given to the Board members that was requested by Mr. Schlueter.
  • High School Interim will be held on May 15th.
  • Elementary/HS Fun Day will be held on May 17th.
  • ACT scores improved.
  • Retirement for Jacobs and Trout-Wisnieski will be held May 20th at 12:00 p.m.

 

Schnoor made a motion to contribute $1,000 per National FCCLA Participant to help with their expenses.  Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

Would like to recognize and congratulate the Journalism Team and Mr. Stevens on making State Runner Up for Class C Journalism and also want to congratulate Christian and Elissa Dames as State Champions in Journalism.

 

Discussion regarding any building and grounds matters.

 

Schnoor made a motion to approve the bids from SkyWave for new laptops for the 2019-20 school year, Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Schlueter motioned to approve Tim Wobken as the SSCS Treasurer for 2019-2020 school year.

 

Schnoor motioned to allow the SSCS District Treasurer to borrow money on behalf of the District if needed.  Nemecek seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

Adjournment:

There being no further business, Schnoor moved for adjournment at 8:28 p.m., Schlueter seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, June 10, 2019, at 7:30 p.m., at the Scribner –Snyder Attendance Center.  Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
