Congratulations to the High School track teams on their efforts at the Fort Calhoun Track on Tuesday.  There were several PRs yesterday.  Congratulations to McKenna Stewart who placed 6th in both the 100 meter Hurdles and the 300 meter Hurdles.

Any boys that are interested in wrestling in high school next year, there will be a meeting in Mr. McDuffee's room during Trojan Time at 8:05am on Thursday to talk about summer camps.  Check in to Trojan Time first.

The varsity track teams will leave school on Saturday at 7:15 am, be here at 7:00am to help load the bus.

Don't Miss Out! Friday, April 26th is the final day to order and purchase a 2023-2024 SSCS Yearbook!

Students should report to the following locations where you will be cleaning-Seniors- The Islands Down Main Street- Report to Mr. P; Juniors/ Sophomore Boys- Snyder Park- Report to Shelly's bus; Sophomore and Freshman Girls- Report to Mrs. Fischer; Freshman Boys - Baseball Field- Report to Mr. Brummond; 7&8 non-track students Softball fields- Report to Kevin's bus; 7th & 8th Grade track - Follow the coaches lead; 6th grade- Highway Park and Auditorium- Report to Mrs. G.

Reminders: Friday will be your final opportunity to order and purchase a 2024 Yearbook.  Extra order forms can be picked up outside of Mrs. Enos's classroom.

Juniors and seniors are reminded to get your Yellow Sheets from Mrs. Kafonek turned in by the end of the day.

On Monday, the following students will need to report to Mr. McDuffee’s room to take or retake the IMPACT Test during Trojan Time. They will be late reporting to Period 1—April, Jonathan, Chase, Echo, Nadia, Alexis, Landon, Brennan and Alaina. Please report to your homeroom teacher no later than 7:55 for attendance/lunch count so that you can be ready in his room for your test at 8 a.m. If any additional students have not taken the test, please report to the office and notify Shelly.

All current FFA members: Please stop by the Ag Room before the end of the day to cast your vote for officers for next year.

Congratulations to the varsity girls and boys track teams on their efforts at the Tekamah-Herman track meet yesterday.  We had several people improve their times and distances on the year.  Girls placers were McKenna 2nd 100 m hurdles and 1st in 300 m hurdles, and Kristen 2nd in shot put, and Camdyn 6th in 100 m dash.

FFA Officer interviews will begin tonight at 5:00 p.m. Applicants, make sure you arrive early and are wearing official dress.

FFA Banquet is Monday. We need help right after school with set up. Please plan accordingly. All members are asked to bring the assigned food, designated on your banquet invitation, for the meal. Attire for the banquet is official dress.

The Traverse with Shelly driving it will leave SS at 12:15 (Kyrian, Hector, Colton) and then a group of students (Zoey, Emily, Kadyn, Kloey) will return to SS around 1:15.

Today’s schedule: All students will report to 5th period. At noon, all 6-12 students will report for lunch. After lunch, 9-12 students will be loading the bus for the Men in Mission assembly at Logan View at 1 p.m. Grades 6-8 will return to 5th period after lunch and continue their normal afternoon schedule. All 9-12 students will be returning following the assembly and will return to class.

The Junior High track meet tomorrow has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 23rd!

The track meet at Tekamah-Herman scheduled for today has been postponed due to the amount of rain and uncertainty of the predicted weather for this afternoon. A rescheduled date will be announced when it becomes available.

Congratulations to the Scribner-Snyder math team (Garrett H, Izzy, McKenna, Rylee, and Nattlie) on getting first place in the virtual math competition yesterday!

Congrats to the Fortnite 1 team on Qualifying for the Spring State Tournament April 26, at Concordia College in Seward!  Nice Work Ethan, Trent, and Jonathan!!!

Senior cap and gown pictures will be Thursday, April 18th during 8th period.  Please make sure that your gown is wrinkle free and that you have appropriate attire and shoes for pictures.

Yearbook sales will be ending soon, and you were MADE to own a 2024 copy of the "Made for This" Yearbook!  The deadline to order a Yearbook is Friday, April 26th.  Extra order forms can be picked up from Mrs. Enos with cash/check payment made out to SSCS at the bargain price of $45!  Online ordering is also available. See Mrs. Enos, MS. Drey, or the school Facebook page for details on that option.  Yearbooks are delivered in August/September of 2024.  This year's Yearbook Staff have created an awesome book of memories!  Please turn in orders/payment to Ms. Drey, Mrs, Enos or the main office by April 26th!

Congratulations to FCCLA members Izzy, Eli, Calleigh, and Jillian all of whom received gold rankings at state FCCLA. Calleigh received top gold and is State Champion in Professional Presentation Level 1. She earned her way to national leadership conference in Seattle, WA at the end of June.

Great effort by the Trojan track and field teams yesterday at the Lyons-Decatur track meet, congratulations to McKenna Stewart finishing in second place in both the 100 m hurdles and in the 300 m hurdles.

Congratulations to the following Scribner-Snyder high school students (Izzy Carrier, Eli Enos, Marah Fischer, Emily and Nattlie Hull, Garrett and Gillian Hunke, Rylee Nemecek, Hannah Ryun, Kristen Schellenberg, Shandera Simpson, Ashley Stadt, McKenna Stewart, Kadyn and Kloey Wheelock) for earning the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) 2023-2024 Nebraska State Colleges Multi-Activity Student Award.

Congrats to the Fortnite 1 team on their first-round playoff win against Pender! Good Job Ethan and Trent. 

Also, congrats to the League of Legends team on qualifying for the State tournament at Concordia College on April 26th.

A reminder that on Thursday following track practice, the gym will be closed for Prom decorating. Juniors should report by 4:30 to the gym to start hauling things from the old building/shop. On Friday all the juniors except Colton, Chase and Ivan will be in the gym all day decorating until we are finished. Please do not make arrangements right after school for anything as we will work until the gym décor is complete.

FFA members attending state convention tomorrow - departure time is 7 am. Come in official dress and don't forget money for lunch.  

JH track team members will need to be dismissed at 2:05 to get their uniform on. We will take a quick team picture before loading the bus to leave for West Point at 2:30.

If there are any girls who plan to play high school basketball next year, please stop in the office to pick up a schedule of summer events from Coach Wright.

A shout out to the girls and boys track team on their performance at the cold and windy Wayne State College High School Invite on Saturday! Placers were McKenna Stewart:  4th in the 100 meter hurdles and 6th in the 300 meter hurdles.  Camdyn Small: 6th in the 100 meter dash, 6th in the 200 meter dash. and 6th in the Long Jump.

Congratulations to Kristen and Nattlie on qualifying for the Girls State Wrestling Tournament this Thursday afternoon. Kristen finished the day as District Champion and Nattlie brought home the District Runner-Up medal. Congratulations to the SS Quiz Bowl team on their Round 2 victory over Plainview yesterday during the KTCH Radio Quiz Bowl Challenge. They will compete again on Feb. 12th.

Speech Team Students: Those attending the Homer Invite this Saturday, we will be leaving at 6 AM from the high school parking lot.  Come professionally dressed.  Breakfast and snacks will be provided. Bring your phone or your school computer to the competition for online postings during the speech meet.  Make sure to activate your Speechwire student account via your school email prior to Saturday's meet.  See Mrs. Enos if you have any questions on how to do this.

There will be an FFA work night tonight to finalize state degrees and proficiencies. Sign up for what time works best for you. Can be before or after musical, speech, work, etc.

One-Act Cast and Crew: Please make sure to be on stage tonight in performance attire, hair and make-up by 7:15 PM behind the red curtain.  Costumes and make-up will be available outside of the locker rooms immediately after school on Tuesday until showtime.  We will all be creative, flexible, and help each other as we host an entertaining evening for our community and honor our seniors in their last show.  Break a Leg!

Congratulations to the One-Act Cast & Crew on their Best of Show D2 District Runner-Up Award!  Congratulations also goes out to the SSCS Crew who earned the Top Technical Award at the contest!  Gillian Hunke was awarded Best Overall Actress for the whole competition! Individual Acting Awards were given to: Jill Adams, Krista Beranek, Emily Hull, Nattlie Hull, Gillian Hunke, Rylee Nemecek, Hannah Ryun, Shandera Simpson, and Ashley Stadt!  Amazing Job!

Congratulations to the SSCS One-Act!  The ensemble earned overall 3rd Place Honors out of eight schools in the EHC hosted at Pender High School!  One of the judges in the three-judge panel ranked SSCS 1st PLACE out of all the schools competing today!  Hannah Ryun was awarded Best Overall Supporting Actress out of all eight shows! Individual Crew Tech. Awards: Izzy Carrier, Eli Enos, Jacey Meier, and Shandera Simpson; Individual Acting Award Honors: Jillian Adams, Krista Beranek, Garrett Hunke, Gillian Hunke, Rylee Nemecek, Hannah Ryun, Shandera Simpson, and Kadyn Wheelock

One Act Cast and Crew:  Tonight's REQUIRED Dress Rehearsal includes hair, make up and costumes in the locker room.  Cast & Crew need to arrive at 6 PM.  Dinner provided in the Commons from 5:45 -6:15 PM.  Everyone needs to be on stage in full attire at 6:30 PM. Rehearsal will go until 8 PM.  If you want to come earlier than 6 PM for hair, make-up, and costumes, Mrs. Enos will be in the stage area to supervise as early as 5 PM.

Good luck to the LVSS volleyball team on Monday at Sub-Districts. LVSS will face Winnebago at 4:30 p.m. With the win, they will advance to play #1 seeded Omaha Nation at 7 p.m.

A reminder that today is the final day of Quarter 1. All assignments need to be turned in before you leave today or they will be recorded as zero’s. No exceptions as grades will be stored in PowerSchool.

Attention Students: From this day forward, if you receive a Yellow Sheet from a teacher to attend a school event and you do not have a parent signature on it, the office has been instructed not to accept any phone calls or emails from a parent granting permission. You just won’t be able to attend the event if the deadline has past and the form isn’t signed.

Students: When you get a blue slip and will be gone during Trojan Time, that teacher will also need to sign your blue slip so that they know for attendance/lunch count where you are.

Students: You are reminded that you need to check out the library books you are taking and not just take them off the shelf and put them back in the basket when you are done. Please follow the proper procedure for checking out a library book.

Seniors: Please meet at the school in the high school parking lot Saturday at 2:15 to load the vans and head to Vala's Pumpkin Patch.

Homecoming Spirit Week concludes today with Trojan Pride Day. The parade/pep rally/coronation is today at 2:15 p.m. All Students and staff should gather by the band building and be ready to start marching at 2:15 p.m. Students will return to the school for dismissal at regularly scheduled times. Please dismiss the band members at 2:10 today to go get their instruments ready.

Seniors are reminded to get their contracts turned in to Mrs. Fischer or Mrs. Schafer.

Due to possible incoming inclement weather, the football game start time for tomorrow night has been changed to 6 p.m.

Homecoming Spirit Week: Today is Barbie/Ken Day and tomorrow is Trojan Pride Day. The parade/pep rally/coronation is tomorrow at 2:15 p.m. Students and staff should gather by the music suite and be ready to start marching at 2:15. Students will return to the school for dismissal at regularly scheduled times.

Today is the deadline for Outside Dance date forms for LV’s dance. Tickets are on sale until noon tomorrow. The dance will be from 9-11:30 with pictures beginning at 8 p.m.

Seniors: You will have a class meeting during Trojan Time Friday to vote on your options and officers. Also: Seniors you are reminded that the Permission Slips that you received this morning for tomorrow’s Food Bank trip are due tomorrow morning before we leave at 8 a.m.

JH Volleyball girls remember you will be going over for a short practice today. This will help us get a little more prepared for our game tomorrow.  Please dismiss the JH Volleyball girls at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow so they can get dressed and be ready to leave by 2:45 p.m.

Students: You are reminded that Picture Day is tomorrow morning. We will start with the preschoolers and work our way up to the seniors. Your class (6th-12th) will be called when it is your turn to report to the stage.

One-Act Cast & Crew: Tonight, is the Opening Dinner and Table Read for this year's production of "Breaking the News"!  Cheese pizza, chips, goldfish, granola bars and cookies are on the menu and Mrs. Enos will start serving at 6:30 PM in her classroom. Bring your script you received last Friday and a water bottle/own drink. The table read begins at 7 PM for ALL cast (please be on time). Crew attendance is optional, but highly encouraged.  We will be done no later than 8 PM.  Softball players are excused due to your rescheduled competition. We wish you the best of luck at your game tonight!

There will be a FFA Meeting TOMORROW morning during Trojan Time in the Ag Room.  We will be discussing upcoming dates and activities.

Students, reminder that the "Trojan Power" points system for quarter one has started. Activity, employment, and community service forms can be picked up in Miss Piper's room. The goal for quarter one is 50 points for all 7th-12th graders and 40 points for 6th graders. Additional points can be earned through "Trojan Tickets". If you receive a ticket, make sure to drop it off in Miss Piper's classroom! 

Today is the final day for Drop & Add forms to be turned in. These must be turned into the office by 3:30 p.m.

Do you want to laugh while working with your peers to perform a fun and hilarious 30-minute play?  Then One Act is the place to be!  Audition for the comical 2023 One-Act and/or sign up to be a part of the crew!  Information, Scripts, and Sign-Up Materials are all located in Mrs. Enos's room.  Auditions are Friday - Wednesday with both morning, afternoon, and early evening opportunities.  Please sign-up in advance and bring your filled-out interest sheets and commitment forms to the audition!  Crew commitment forms are due Thursday, August 24th to Mrs. Enos!  Be a part of Trojan Theater!
