                                                                               REGULAR MEETING

BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

                                                                 MONDAY, JUNE 14, 2021 @ 7:30 P.M.

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

Open the Meeting

Call the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Scribner-Snyder President, Laura Schnoor presiding.

 

Open Meetings Act

Notice of this meeting was properly published in a newspaper of general circulation by advance Public Notice with notice and advance agenda given to all members of the board prior to the meeting date.

NOTE:  The meeting was broadcast on Facebook live @sstrojans.org

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Roll Call

A call of roll showed 5 members present:  Don Beck, Mike Fischer, Cory Schlueter, Laura Schnoor and Andrea Vacha.  1 absence – Matt Kruse

 

Welcoming of Visitors

President Schnoor welcomed the visitors. (1 visitor)

 

Special Recognition

Congratulations to Cailey Stout on winning the Class D Discus Title at the State Track Meet.

 

TRANE Update

TRANE Representatives updated the board their plan to fix the HVAC System.

 

Informational Reports

Board Members – Laura mentioned the Q150 activities that will be held in the Scribner-Snyder Public School.  Laura also asked for any help with the loading and delivering of picnic tables to the park and on main street.

 

Principal Stithem reported on the following items:

  • Casey Keene began the Summer School Program on June 7th and will continue through the middle of July.
  • Summer Weight Program started on May 31st.
  • All new teaching staff have visited the school and we are looking forward to working with all of them this school year.
  • Thank you to the janitorial staff for doing a great job at getting started on the summer project list and thanks to Deb, Shelly and Sharon for inventorying and making sure all new supplies are delivered correctly.

 

Superintendent Peitzmeier reported on the following items:

  • Legislative Issues:

-Received our Certificate of Accreditation from Nebraska Dept of  Education for the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Facilities:

-Summer projects underway

                        -Will keep in touch with Elizabeth Valla regarding old high school building.

  • Workshops/Meetings:

-PBIS Training – June 14th and 15th.

-Emergency Operations Planning – training has been completed

-Policy Committee Meeting – set up time for policy meeting

  • Miscellaneous:

-ARP (American Rescue Plan) will receive $424,000 for the use of       

 reopening schools and learning recovery of students.

-Close Up trip – leave on Wednesday June 16th.

-GAGA Pit – poured slab of cement and company is replacing rubber mats  

 thanks to Nicki Schnoor.

-End of school wrap up – staff lunch

-Thank You note from Arlene Alsmeyer was read

 

Updated the Board on Superintendent attendance/absences

 

Action Items

 

Approval of the Consent Agenda

Vacha changed the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as presented which includes the approval of the agenda, the May 10, 2021 Minutes, Treasurers Report (attachment 1), Financial Reports (attachment 2), the actual General Fund expenses (attachment 3) and placed them on file with the excused absence of Matt Kruse.  Schlueter seconded and motion carried 5-yes.

 

Vacha moved to purchase “Inspire” high school science curriculum from McGraw Hill in the amount of $8,072.39 as proposed.  Fischer seconded and motion carried 5-yes.

 

Discussion Items: 

            -Board Retreat – set up time for Retreat. 

 

Motion to Enter Executive Session:

Schlueter moved to enter executive session at 8:20 pm for purpose of potential future litigation.  Fischer seconded and motion carried 5-yes

 

Vacha moved to resume Regular Session at 8:43 pm.  Schlueter seconded and motion carried 5-yes

 

Adjournment

There being no further business on the agenda of this meeting, President Laura Schnoor adjourned the meeting at 8:44 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Monday, July 12, 2021, at 7:30 p.m., in the Scribner–Snyder Band Room.  Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
