BOARD OF EDUCATION DISTRICT #62

                                                         WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 10, 2022 @ 6:30 P.M.

SCRIBNER – SNYDER BAND BUILDING

 

 

Open the Meeting

Call the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Scribner-Snyder President, Laura Schnoor presiding.

 

Open Meetings Act

Notice of this meeting was properly published in a newspaper of general circulation by advance Public Notice with notice and advance agenda given to all members of the board prior to the meeting date.  Scribner-Snyder personnel Joe Peitzmeier, Sharon Meyer and Malia Nemecek were in attendance.

 

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

 

Roll Call

A call of roll showed all 6 members present:  Don Beck, Mike Fischer, Matt Kruse, Laura Schnoor, Cory Schlueter and Andrea Vacha

Informational Reports

Board Members –NASB Area Membership meeting on August 24th.  Building and Grounds met regarding bus driver pay.

 

Principal Stithem’s report was given in written form due to the Pre-K – 12 Open House.

Superintendent Peitzmeier reported on the following items:

  • Curriculum:

-Early Childhood Program approval

-$98,500 Action Grant approved

  • Facilities:

-Summer project report

-DLR Facility Study update

-Fridge/Freezer update

  • Workshops/Meetings:

-August 24th - NASB Area Membership Meeting

-Staff Inservice

-August 25th Chamber Supper for staff

-Administrator Days

  • Miscellaneous:

-Watermelon feed at Fair

-NCC Admission to activities

-Outside Services

 

Updated the Board on Superintendent attendance/absences

 

Action Items

 

Approval of the Consent Agenda

Vacha moved to approve the Consent Agenda as presented. This includes the approval of the agenda, the July 13, 2022 Minutes, Treasurers Report (attachment 1), Financial Reports (attachment 2), the actual General Fund expenses (attachment 3), Special Building Fund expenses (attachment 4) and placed them on file.  Schlueter seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Budget Hearing Date

Schlueter moved to set the date of the Budget Hearing for September 28, 2022 at 6:30 pm.  Beck seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Property Tax Levy Hearing Date

Fischer moved to set the date of the Property Tax Levy Hearing for September 28, 2022 immediately following the Budget Hearing.  Vacha seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Discuss, Consider and take Necessary Action to Approve Board Policy 415.01 “Support Staff Vacations, Holidays, and Personal Leave”

Vacha moved to approve Board Policy 415.01 “Support Staff Vacations, Holidays, and Personal Leave” as presented.  Schlueter seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Discussion items

  1. Return to Learn Plan
  2. Board Retreat/Budget Work Meeting will be held on August 31st at 6:00 pm
  3. Girls Wrestling

 

Executive Session

Vacha moved to enter executive session at 7:13 pm for the purpose of strategy session relating to current litigation.  Schlueter seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Fischer moved to resume Regular Session at 7:31 pm.  Vacha seconded and motion carried 6-yes.

 

Adjournment

There being no further business on the agenda of this meeting, President Laura Schnoor adjourned the meeting at 7:32 p.m.

The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education of District #62, Dodge County, will be Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 6:30 p.m., in the Scribner–Snyder Band Room.  Agenda items are kept current in the superintendent’s office and may be inspected during regular business hours.
